MEET ELLEN
Ellen grew up in the lower Hudson Valley, but visited her grandparents, aunts and uncles in Liverpool throughout her childhood. She remembers seeing the huge HESS tanks where Destiny now stands meant that they were close to gramma's house. Ellen sat next to her grandfather, who was active as an usher at Assumption Church, as he was interviewed on television about the copper steeples being replaced. And coming to the state fair to see her first Backstreet Boys concert was a no-brainer.
With these family ties to the area, it was an easy choice for Ellen and Nic, her husband of 18 years, to search for their first home here. They moved to Onondaga County in 2008 and bought their home in Lyncourt in 2009, where they still live today. Having worked in both long-term care and intergenerational day models, Ellen continued her work with the elderly population at PACE CNY before pursuing her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. To accommodate a flexible schedule, she worked for a small, woman-owned business in Fayetteville until 2019. She then re-entered the human services sector in positions at ARISE, Salvation Army and Helio, where she worked until 2024. She is now employed by Psychiatric Services of CNY in Eastwood as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, or LMHC.
Ellen comes to the political arena because she wishes to feel connected to the effort to affect the current political climate in a positive way. She wants to provide stability and transparency for the general population and empower the community to seek resources. She wants to push for the county to use what it already has. Ellen wants our tax dollars to be used to fix existing problems, not allocated to projects that rely on rosy outlooks. Through having the privilege of serving the local community, Ellen has first hand knowledge of what people need, and what changes they are looking for.
Ellen's extensive work history of serving her community prove she is the choice for county legislator in District 5.
Ellen listens to people's needs every day. Ellen will listen to you.
